The 5th DeHaan Tourism Management Conference "Culture, Tourism and the Media" A Call for Papers
Date: Tuesday 12th December 2006
Location: TTRI, Nottingham University Business School, Jubilee Campus, Nottingham
Details: Tourism can be generated by books, movies, TV shows, DVDs and every other level of cultural activity. TV shows are increasingly promoting tourism to exotic destinations and the Times trumpets that "Britain is one giant film location".
The Christel DeHaan Tourism and Travel Research Institute is engaged in research into the influence of screen product consumption on the tourist's decision-making process, and we would welcome contributions to the conference which throw further light on this and other related issues. How do the media represent cultures for potential tourism consumption? What do people's holiday videos tell us about the tourist experience? How can a destination secure long-term value from appearing in a TV series?
