Destination Management Partnerships (DMPs)
There are five DMPs in the East Midlands working toward effective promotion of the region's destinations. These organisations are the first point of contact for visitors and the tourism industry:
East Midlands Observatories
There are several observatories that carry out and disseminate local research in the East Midlands counties:

Regional Government
East Midlands Development Agency
The role of emda, as the Regional Development Agency, is to further the economic development and regeneration of the East Midlands.
Government Office East Midlands Government Office East Midlands is the hub of 10 central government departments in the East Midlands. It aims to work with regional partners and local people to maximise competitiveness and prosperity in the East Midlands, and to bring together government policies for a more inclusive society.
East Midlands Regional Assembly The regional assembly is one of eight in England . It acts as the regional planning body, ensures that the East Midlands is positively engaged with the European Union, and scrutinises the development and delivery, by emda, of the economic strategy for the East Midlands.

East Midlands Universities Association
The East Midlands Universities Association (EMUA) represents the 10 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the region. EMUA aims to promote and facilitate co-operation between the universities and higher education colleges, to the benefit of the region and these institutions.
An emda initiative that promotes the regeneration of rural and urban environments in the East Midlands.
The Regional Cultural Consortium, funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), to promote the value and importance of culture in the East Midlands.
East Midlands Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (EMMLAC):
EMMLAC is a partnership aiming to ensure museums, libraries and archives play a full role in the social, educational, cultural and economic life of the East Midlands.
National Agencies with a Regional Presence
The regional wing of Arts Council England, the national development agency for the arts in England, who provide the bedrock of support for the arts in England.
Sports England - East Midlands
Sports England promote and invest in sport and are responsible for delivering the Government's sporting objectives. In the East Midlands the main function is to help develop a strong and effective infrastructure of sport and active recreation in the region.
The National Trust is a major player in the tourism industry in this region. Their work in protecting and managing countryside, coastal areas and buildings underpins the essential environmental resources upon which so much of the tourism industry depends.
The government's lead organisation for protecting and promoting England 's spectacular historic environment. This is the link to the East Midlands ' news page.
National Agencies
The Sector Skills Council for the Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism industries, who ensure that the skills employers need are the skills they get. Sector Skills Councils are independent, UK wide organisations developed by groups of influential employers in industry or business sectors of economic or strategic significance.
This is the official website of the U.K. Research Liaison Group, the group is made up of representatives of the national tourist boards for England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, Britain and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. The website incorporates a wide range of statistics and research on tourism in the U.K.

VisitBritain works to promote Great Britain as a tourism destination to international tourists nd to promote England to domestic tourists.
Department for Culture, Media and Sport
The central government department responsible for Tourism. It aims to improve the quality of life for all through cultural and sporting activities, to support the pursuit of excellence and to champion the tourism, creative and leisure industries.
Department for the Environment and Rural Affairs
The central goverment department which brings together the interests of farmers and the countryside; the environment and the rural economy; the food we eat, the air we breathe and the water we drink.
