
The Centre for Leisure Retailing, Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University
The Centre for Leisure Retailing is located in Nottingham Business School at the Nottingham Trent University. Since 2003 the centre has been leading the field in relation to management development, research and consultancy services for organisations operating in the leisure retail sector.
The centre has a strong research profile, with staff having received commissions from commercial organisations, industry bodies, regional development agencies and government bodies. Projects have focused on issues relating all areas of leisure retail management. Examples include the performance of local pub managers, the cost of staff turnover, skills shortages, employment of students in the sector, higher education provision of hospitality management. The staff at the centre are well published in academic journals such as International Journal of Hospitality Management.
The centre has launched three work-based qualifications around the theme of leisure retailing. These qualifications map against key stages in company’s management development programmes. In addition, a “top-up” BA (Hons) degree is now available to area managers who have completed all three stages.
